he Central division cyber crime police are on the lookout for a conman who posing as representative of a leading liquor shop cheated city based advocate and his friends promised to door deliver the beer they have ordered and made away with Rs.15,000.
Rakshith KS,resident of Markham Road in his complaint said that they searched for the contact number of the liquor shop close to cubbon park to order online and contact the number mentioned and ordered for couple of beer.
The person asked them to pay Rs.900 online for the order and offered door delivery.While ordering the accused sent a QR code and as soon as the code was scanned a total of Rs.4,500 has been deducted.
Shocked by this Rakshith and friends contacted the person,who apologized and asked them to share the PIN to reversed the amount.
As soon as the PIN number was shared another Rs.10,000 was deducted.When the victims call to inform about the fraudulent transactions,the accused abused them verbally and blocked their numbers.
The victims tried to contact from different numbers but in vain.
The police said that this is not the first case, there are many complaints the police received. The fraudsters put up the names of famous liquor shops along with the contact numbers on social media offering door delivery service and cheat people using similar Modus Operandi or tactics.
