Fireman of Peenya arrested for extorting money in the guise of CCB officer

The Kodigehalli police on Wednesday arrested a 33-year-old Fireman from Peenya who was extorting money from spa and saloons across the city posing as CCB officer .

The accused have been identified as TR Anand, working in fire and emergency services in Athani and presently staying in a rented house in Peenya.

Senior officer told reporters,The accused had fixed the monthly protection money and left a mobile number with the managers of the firm demanding monthly protection money to be transferred,which helped the police to track him down.

The accused would visit the spa and saloons across the city posing as CCB officer,and demand protection money and threatened to carry out raids if the money is not paid.

Using this Modus Operandi,the accused had taken money ranging from 20,000 to 25,000 from four spas and saloons in Kodigehalli, Vidyaranyapura and two in electronic city .

However the racket came to light when the manager of one of the spa on suspicion approached the police and filed a complaint .

Based on the complaint the police arrested the accused and recovered four mobile phones,a motorcycle and bank account from the accused for further investigations.
