Teachers recruitment scam Five among two Directors of Education department arrested by CID

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials on Monday arrested five more persons including two directors of the education department in connection with the teachers recruitment scam.

The accused Smt Geetha,Director,Samagra Shikshana abhiyana,Karnataka, Madegowda,Director Text Books,GR Basavaraju, K Rathnaiah and DK Shivakumar,who are retired as Joint Directors.

Senior officer told reporters the accused during their tenure issued orders from their offices to DDPIs to appoint teachers who were not eligible or qualified.

Some of the teachers recruited are not even filed the job application or attended interviews,a senior police officer, said.The accused had committed the offence blatantly and for monitory gain which is being probed.

So far the CID have arrested over 21 people in this scam and are investigating the role of each and everyone.

There are more people involved in the scam and their role will be ascertained after questioning the accused.

The accused have been produced before Magistrate and got police custody till 1st October 2022.

The Vidhana Soudha police had registered two cases were registered in August 12 connected to recruitment of assistant teachers (Grade-2) in 2012-2013 and physical education teachers in 2014-2015.
