Cong MLA Priyank Kharge not interested in Kalyana Karnataka development, says CM Bommai

Dr B Thomas (Special Correspondent)

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said he did not know why Congress MLA Priyank Kharge is opposing the announcement of Rs.5000 crore grant for Kalyana Karnataka Development Board (KKDB) instead of welcoming it.

It looks like Priyank is not in favor of development of the backward Kalyana Karnataka region.

Talking to reporters here on Sunday, the CM said
he had announced on Saturday that a Rs.5000 crore grant will be provided for the development of Kalyana Karnataka region in State Budget 2023-24.

Last year,he had promised to provide Rs.3000 crore which had been provided in the current year budget.

Instead of welcoming it,the Congress MLA has opposed it.It will give an impression that Priyank wants this region to remain backward forever.

All of them must work accordingly when an initiative was made for the development of backward areas and it is not correct to politicise it, he added.
No politics, pls

Replying to a question about Congress leaders statement asking Health and Medical Education Minister Dr.K.Sudhakar responsible for the VIMS incident in Ballari,Bommai said the previous Congress Government had tabled the Karnataka Private Doctors’ Bill which was opposed by private doctors across the State and struck work for five days.

At that time around 80 people had died. Did the then Health Minister resign? The habit of the Congress Party is to politicise everything.

Planned conspiracy

Asked about a billboard put up in Telangana about the “40 per cent government” , the CM said he did not know about it. It looks like a planned conspiracy.

Is it reasonable to put up a hoarding regarding an issue related to Karnataka in Telangana? He was not aware whether it had been done by some private individuals or put up by the government. Such developments would impact the cordial relationship among two states, he added.
