Rohatgi is AG again

Abhijit Ray, Kolkata:Prominent lawyer Mukul Rohatgi is going to be the Attorney General of the country once again. KK Venugopal’s extended tenure as Attorney General of the country ends on September 30. Now Rohatgi can be appointed to that position. He can take over as Attorney General on October 1. Before this, he was the Attorney General of the country from 2014 to 2017.Rohatgi also held the post of Additional Solicitor General during the Vajpayee government in 1999. Venugopal has been holding the post of Attorney General since 2017. He has already indicated that he does not want to hold the post of Attorney General after September 30. Venugopal took charge as the 15th Attorney General after Rohatgi vacated the post of Attorney General in 2017.His 3-year term in this post ends in 2020. At that time, this 91-year-old jurist wanted to step down from this position due to his age. But the central government requested him to remain in the post of AG. Now he is being replaced by eminent lawyer Mukul Rohatgi.
