Missing case turned into murder Businessman held for killing his wife over trivial row

T he Southeast Division police of Madiwala police cracked a missing case and arrested a 28-year-old businessman who strangled his wife to death while returning from a holiday trip from Malpe on August 2.

The accused has been identified as Prithviraj, resident of Maruthi Nagar.

Senior officer told reporters the accused had made an elaborate plan to eliminate his wife Jyothi Kumari, 38 and even roped in his friend to drive the car.

However the CCTV footage and Call Record details details helped the police to nail the accused .

CK Baba,Deputy Commissioner of Police, Southeast division,said that the Prithviraj owns a shop for electronic appliance married to Jyothi, who is ten years elder to him.

Soon after the marriage he realized that ten years age gap and started having fight with her .

Jyothi who was a Bcom graduate also attempted UPSC exam twice and even stayed in Delhi for sometime for coaching purpose.

The accused started suspecting her and the couple used to have frequent fight over trivial row and had rough married life.

In order to get rid of her,Prithviraj,planned to eliminate her and roped in his friend Samir Kumar,from Bihar,as driver of the car,who is presently on the run.

During investigation it was found the accused booked a car on rent and hotel room at Malpe with a plan to drown Jyothi in a beach to make it look like accidental death.

He also left both the phones at home to create alibi and even purchased a new SIM and a basic model phone for communication,However the plan was flopped as the authorities have put a danger sign board everywhere and heightened patrolling .

After changing the plan,the accused on the way returned via Shiradi ghat in Sakaleshpur and stopped the car near Gundya forest area where he strangled her with a veil she was wearing and dumped the body before returning home on August 2.

After waiting for three days,Prithviraj approached the police and filed a missing complaint stating that she had left her phone and went missing from home.

The police during the course of investigations verified his phone number to find that he had booked a holiday trip to Malpe and even rented out a car few days before the incident which he hid from the police .

On suspicion the police pursued the lead and verified the CCTV to find that the couple had left home together few days ago and that was the last time,Jyothi was seen.

Based on the inputs,Prithviraj was taken into custody and a detailed investigations led him to confess to the crime,Mr.Baba,said .

Based on the confession,the police team led by S Paul Priyakumar rushed to Shiradi Ghat area and recovered the body from an isolated place .

The accused was taken into custody and efforts are on to track down Samir he added.
