Former councillor,Ayub Khan murdered in tussle over mosque in Bengaluru,nephew arrested by Chamarajpet police

The Chamarajpet police arrested 32-year-old Mateen Khan who was on the run after stabbing his uncle to death over a row over president post of a local mosque on July 13.

The accused has been identified as,Mateen Khan,32.

Senior officer told reporters,the accused was on the run moving in an autorickshaw and changing the hideouts frequently to escape from police.

However a special team of police who came to know that he was hiring an autorickshaw and moving around tracked him down finally at Kengeri on Monday and arrested him.

The accused stabbed Ayun Khan,former councilor and was a realtor and also the president of Khudadaad mosque for the last 15 years.

Nazima Khanum,wife of Ayub Khan and the present councilor of KR market ward,in her complaint to the Chamarajpet police,alleged that Mateen,Ayub’s nephew,had been eyeing the president’s post and had been fighting with Ayub to make him the president.

On July 13,Mateen Khan stabbed Ayub to death after he was returning from evening prayer.

The accused even recorded a video and circulated it on social media that he was innocent and he murdered his uncle in self defense .

The accused has been taken into custody and further investigating to ascertain if there are other reason for the murder and if there are any possible involvement of others in the crime.

Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,C H Pratap Reddy has appreciated Addl CP West, Sandeep Patil,DCP West,Laxman B Nimbargi, ACP,KC Giri PI,Yerriswamy and his whole team for nabbing the murderer a nephew of vicitm a suitable reward will be given to whole team he added.
