Duo including Salesman of Gold Shop arrested for stealing Jewels in Bengaluru Stolen valuables worth Rs.26.2 lakhs recovered

The North Division police of Yeshwanthpur police on Monday arrested a salesman of a jewel shop for stealing gold valuables for the past one year and pawning them through his friend to spend the money lavishly .

The accused has been identified as,Chethan Nayak,27,worked as salesman in Best Jewelers on Triveni road for the last four years .

Senior officer told reporters,The incident came to light when the owner of the jewel shop noticed a necklace kept at the showcase which had to be delivered for the customer,was mysteriously missing .

Shocked owner,checked the CCTV footage to find Chethan was pocketing the necklace.

On suspicion the owner checked more footage to find Chethan was taking jewels on many times before.

Based on the complaint, the police picked up Chethan and a detailed questioning led to his partner Vijay.

Detailed investigation revealed that Chethan would hand over the stolen jewels to Vijay,25, who would pawn them and use the money for their lavish life.

The accused would spend thrift and addicted to hookah and alcohol.

They would take their wives to expensive bars and restaurants and spend money.The accused also bought a car and a scooter to commute, which have been recovered,a police officer,said .

Further Investigations revealed that Chethan started stealing valuables from the shop for the last one year and reportedly stolen around 770 grams .

Based on his confession the police recovered 372grams of gold valuables and cash Rs.99,000 total worth Rs. 26.2 lakh from them.

The police had a tough time to recover the remaining valuables as the accused Vijay claimed that he had memory loss and could not remember where all he had pawned the stolen jewels.
