New Employment Policy should encourage job creation and skills development: CM instructs officials

The New Employment Policy being formulated should not only incentivise creation of jobs,it should also focus on development of skills needed by the industrial sector,Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said.

The Chief Minister today chaired a meeting to review the progress in formulation of the New Employment Policy.

He instructed the officials to give greater thrust for textiles,FMCG and other sectors which have higher potential for employment generation. Bommai also wanted ramping up of training facilities for skills development.

The Chief Minister suggested starting short term training courses in the upgraded ITIs and GTTCs.

Bommai also instructed the officials to submit a report on projects approved in the State High Level Clearance Committee,lands allocated for various industries and whether these industries have implemented their projects within the time frame.

The report should have details about lands allocated and the extent of their utilisation.He instructed the officials to withdraw the lands if the companies have failed to implement their projects within the stipulated time frame.

The meeting was attended by IT, BT and Skills Development minister CN Ashwathnarayan, Additional Chief Secretary in the department of Commerce and Industry EV Ramana Reddy and others.
