Acid attacker Ahmed arrested for splashing acid on married woman in Bengaluru after she turns down proposal

In a swift action,the KS Layout police arrested a 32-year-old man for splashing toilet cleaner on the face of his female friend after she refused his marriage proposal on the busy Sarakki junction on Friday.

The accused has been identified as Ahmed,32, resident of Goripalya.

The victim was walking with the accused to work when the accused proposed her for marriage for which the victim declined.

Enraged by this the accused Ahmed,pulled out the bottle and splashed on her face and escaped.

The victim raised alarm prompting the passers-by to rush to her help and shifted her to near-by hospital.

The Vasan eye hospital staff washed her eyes and face before shifting her to sanjay gandhi hospital for further treatment.

Senior officers as,DCP South,Harish Pandey immediately rushed to the spot and collected information and inspected the area and after inspecting spot he said the accused has been arrested.

The KS Layout police swung into action and arrested Ahmed from Goripalya where he was hiding at his friend’s house.

He stated that the accused threw the acid as the victim rejected his proposal of marriage

The victim is presently under observation and said to be out of danger.

Her right eye was hurt in the attack but her vision has been restored 70 per cent and she is recovering in a hospital,he informed.

During investigation it was found the attacker and the victim worked in the same incense sticks manufacturing factory.

The married woman has a child but the accused was pestering her to marry him.He had quarrelled with her many times.

The accused waylaid the victim while she was going from Kumaraswamy Layout towards J.P. Nagar and poured acid as toilet cleaner on her face near Sarakki Junction in Bengaluru.

He managed to escape from the scene after the attack.The police rushed to the spot and shifted the victim to a hospital.

Home Minister,Araga Jnanendra stated on Friday that he had sought a report on the acid attack incident in Bengaluru.Action will be taken against the attacker.This is an inhuman act.I will get details and study legal provisions to impose a ban on acid sale in the state,he said.

This was the third acid attack in the last 2 months in Bengaluru causing panic and outrage among the public.

In April,a man Nagesh had poured acid on a working woman for refusing his advances.The police had arrested him in Tamil Nadu and had shot him in the leg during the arrest.He was disguised as a sage.

In another incident,a miscreant from West Bengal had attacked his friend with acid during a quarrel in Cubbonpet locality of Bengaluru.
