Dr B Thomas (Special correspondent)

The west Division cyber crime police have registered a cheating case against a private bank for allegedly misusing the account of a businesswoman to make several illegal transactions worth crores .

In her complaint Nisarga gowda, who runs a multiple business entities, said that she received a message on her registered mobile number about Rs.4 crore credited to her bank account,a one and half months ago.

Since it was around 4 am,she checked with the bank the next day and the staff informed that there was no such transaction.

Thinking it was a mistake, she did not pursue the complaint .

However on May 29, she received another message about Rs.21,981 credited to her account from one of her customer.

When she checked the balance, she was shocked to find a total sum of Rs.1.96 crore as balance, but actually it was Rs.1.84 lakh.

Confused with the multiple balance figures,Ms. Nisarga downloaded the balance statements from her account online and transferred Rs.18 lakh to her another account and Rs.7 lakh and Rs.6 lakh to her husband’s account on the same night.

The next day when she checked the balance the remaining amount of Rs.1.6 crore has been debited automatically without her consent and the bank balance showing Rs.30.3 lakh as negative balance .

Shocked by this when she contacted the bank for clarification, the staff asked her to contact the head office for clarification.

Ms.Nisarga later complained that the bank officials withdrawn Rs.7.8 lakh and Rs.4.9 lakh from her account without her permission and now showing Rs.22.5 lakh as negative balance.

The bank had even blocked her business account and not giving any reasons for the same .

Suspecting something amiss she approached the police and filed a complaint accusing the branch manager and staff of the head office.

Based on the complaint filed by Nisarga Gowda, a resident of Vijay Nagar the police on Thursday registered a case charging the unknown persons charging under various sections of IT act and also under cheating for further investigations.
