BBMP Garbage Truck kills Food delivery boy near Thannisandra flyover,Driver arrested by Chikkajala traffic police

A

25-year-old swiggy delivery boy was killed after a speeding BBMP truck knock down the bike and run over him on Nagawara Thannisandra main road Saturday evening.

The deceased Devanna,a native of Surapura in Yadgir ditrict was living in Kothanur and working for swiggy for the past few months.

Senior officers visited the spot and after collecting information told reporters,Devanna was heading to Hegde Nagar from Nagawara to Deliver the parcel when the accident occurred .

The Chikkajala traffic and law and order police rushed to the spot and arrested the truck driver identified as Dinesh Naik and booked him under rash and negligent driving and death due to negligence and seize the truck for further investigations.

The driver was subjected to medical examination to ascertain whether he was drunk,adding that results of the medical reports awaited .

This is the fourth accident involved garbage trucks since March.14-year-old Akshatha,a high school student was killed and two others injured when the speeding garbage truck run over them while they were crossing the road near Hebbal underpass on March 21.

A 76-year-old V Ramaiah,died after the monster vehicle struck his two-wheeler near REVA University along Thannisandra Main Road on March 31 .

A 40-year-old Padmini D,who worked as deputy manager in SBI was killed on April 18 when the truck knocked her down at Nayandahalli junction on Mysuru road.She was a resident of R R Nagar and was returning from work on a scooter from St Mark’s Road .

The Traffic police taking a serious note on the series of accident involving garbage truck launched a special drive and booked many drivers under traffic violations and even some for drunk driving .

The drive was launched to create awareness among the drivers to instill sense of road safety and traffic rules among the drivers,Dr BR Ravikanthe Gowda,Joint commissioner of Police, traffic, said .
