KSR Bengaluru station turns differently-abled friendly

Shyam Singh,Divisional Railway Manager,today inaugurated Accessible Railway Stations at KSR Bengaluru Railway Station.

The initiative aims to make Railway Stations accessible to divyangjan and senior citizens.

The initiative taken up in association with Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled provide aims to provide better accessibility features such as creation of more than 100 sign language announcements for speech and hearing impaired, Braille maps, signage, platform indicators, auditory signals in entrance and exit of the station for visually impaired people/people with physical disabilities/senior citizens.

With an objective of making Railway Stations accessible for Divyangjan and facilitate easy movement of differently-abled passengers, and bring in a smooth access to platforms of major railway stations especially for the visually impaired, & Speech and Hearing impaired.

In KSR Bengaluru Railway Station,an Upgraded Waiting hall for divyangjan and Senior Citizens with improved facilities, Improved braille Map in concourse and LED TV with announcements in sign language for speech and hearing impaired-which is a first of its kind in Indian Railways are installed.

The initiative is in consonance with Accessible India Campaign of Government of India. (“Sugamya Bharat Mission”)
