The Siddapura police on Saturday arrested a 38-year-old Tailor,his wife and sister-in-law for stealing cash and valuables from their neighbour’s house after getting duplicate keys on February 19.
The accused has been identified as,Akbar his wife Nazima Taj, 32 and her sister Sumaiah Taj are resident of Dayananda Nagar in Jayanagar 1st block .
Senior officer told media persons,The couple got to know that their neighbour Zabiullah and Hajira couple had sold their truck to arrange money for their daughter’s marriage .
The couple who are in need of money came to know about the cash and jewels being purchaed and decided to steal .
As per the plan,they accessed the house keys and got a pair of duplicate keys.
They waited for the opportunity to gain access and on February 19, when Hajira had gone to visit her relatives while her daughter went to college and their son aged 13 was playing in the terrace.
The couple gained entry and took away cash and valuables .
The couple later went to Tumakuru and kept the booty at their relatives house for safety and returned home .
The theft came to light when Hajira returned home and found the valuables and cash missing.
Based on a complaint the police took up investigations and by examining the house break using duplicate keys,the police suspect someone known to the family had done.
They further analyzed the CCTV footage before zeroing in on Akbar.
Based on their confession the police recovered Rs 4 lakh cash and gold valuables worth Rs 2.7 lakh and arrested Sumaiah Taj who was part of the plan.
The trio booked for burglary and remanded to judicial custody.
