Elderly couple murdered in Siddalaghatta hunt on for assailants

A 77-year-old cloth merchant and his 66 year old wife were bludgeoned to death at their house in Shidlaghatta in Chikkaballapura district on Wednesday night.

The deceased have been identified as Srinivasulu and Padmavathy.

The couple are living in own house situated near Vasavi Marriage hall in Shidaghatta while their two daughters staying in Bengaluru after marriage .
Senior officer told media persons that the murder took place late in the night and the accused have gained entry into the house through ventilator and attacked the couple with blunt object and escaped presumably from the backdoor.

While Srinivasalu was found dead in a washroom his wife found dead in living room of the house.

The assailant ransacked the house and the missing valuables would be known only after the detailed investigations,a police officer said .

Police suspect that someone known to the couple or recceed the house could have committed the murder, The police are probing in multiple angles including murder for gain, property and personal reasons .

The murder came to light when the domestic help came home for her regular work at around 10 am and went inside from backdoor after the couple did not respond.

She saw Padmavathy lying dead in a pool of blood and raised alarm prompting the neighbours to rush to the help and alerted the police.

The police said that few neighbours noticed the couple movement inside the house at around 10.30 pm.

Senior police officials including Superintendent of Police Mithun Kumar visited the spot and supervised the investigations and special teams been formed to nab the assailants and will be nabbed he added.
