Two Omicron cases detected in Karnataka, neither of them is serious,nothing to worry”says, Dr K Sudhakar,Minister of Health and Medical Education

Covid testing accelerated, says Minister;

Two Covid positive samples sent to Centre from State have detected Omicron virus in them, Karnataka Minister of Health and Medical Education Dr K.Sudhakar has informed reporters today.

Speaking to reporters, Sudhakar said the Covid Omicron virus was detected very quickly due to the fast-track testing system in the state.

On November 20,a sample of a passenger who arrived from South Africa was sent to Centre,and the virus was discovered.

He was staying at a hotel when he came to Karnataka.His report was positive and he was asymptomatic.

Tested again in a private lab on November 23rd, he got a negative report.Their 24 primary and 240 secondary contacts have been traced.Identified and tested.No one was positive, Dr K.Sudhakar said.

The Omicron virus was found in a 46-year-old doctor. He was positive and self-isolated the same day.Viral load is high in him.

But he has no travel history.Out of his primary and secondary contacts examined,5 have reported positive.

A total of six people were admitted to government hospital,and we are keeping a close watch on them.No one has reported any problem, Sudhakar, informed the reporters.

Minister Sudhakar,has urged People to not to get anxious but to follow Covid safety measures. Chief Ministers,will discuss soon after arriving from Delhi and necessary steps will be taken to contain the virus spread. He has also requested people not to spread rumours he added.
