Bitcoin scam: Top Cop says police security for hacker Sriki

The Bengaluru city police have launched a search for hacker Sri Krishna alias Sriki who went missing soon after he was released from prison on Thursday.

Though the police have decided to deploy a PSI as gunman he did not return home after he was bailed out.

The decision to provide security cover in the form of a gunman taken after considering the threat perception .

A police officer was sent to his house situated in Jayanagar but he is missing.The officer went to his house on Tuesday,returned and again on Wednesday went to check on him.But his family said that he has not come home.

“Sriki was not present in the house and the family members informed that Sriki had not come to the house for the last few days nor they had any clue of his whereabouts.

However, the police went to the house again on Wednesday and it was the same.The family has been asked to inform us soon after they establish contact with Sriki,” a senior police officer said.

Police Commissioner Kamal Pant confirmed the development to reporters and said a gunman will be provided to Sriki.

It may be recalled that,on Monday,the leader of the opposition Siddaramaiah had demanded Chief Minister,Basavaraj Bommai to ensure adequate protection to Sriki as “many influential people are said to be involved in the scam and hence protecting him becomes necessary”.

The police are now checking the hotels where he would prefer to stay. He had not carried any phone and hence was difficult to track , a police officer said.

Even earlier after he was released on bail, Sriki stayed in a hotel on old airport road for two months and no one recognised him until the brawl,the officer added.

Sriki was arrested by city police in November last year and presently has seven cases pending against him.He was in judicial custody for many months before being released on bail three months ago .
