Govindapura police seized Rs.6 Crore fake notes,5 arrested

The East Division police of Govindapura police recently busted a demonetised currency racket and arrested a gang of five red handed while they were waiting for their clients to hand over the consignment of currency notes the police seized Rs.6 Crore fake notes from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Sureshkumar,32,from KR Puram,a cloth merchant),Ramakrishna,32,a cloth merchant from Rajajinagar,Manjunath 43,a farmer from Anekal,  Venkatesh,53,a BBMP sub contractor from Hongasandra,Bengaluru and Dayanand,45,a farmer from Hongasandra, Bengaluru .

Senior officer told reporters, Govindapura police inspector, Prakash R,and his crime staff received a reliable inputs from their informants that 3 people are waiting near petrol bunk to exchange fake and demonetised currency notes.

Based on a tip off,a team of police raided a place near a petrol pump station in HRBR layout and arrested three accused who were waiting for the customer to hand over the backpack stuffed with the demonetized currency notes

The police seized a total of Rs 80 lakh worth demonetised currency notes from them of Rs. 500 and Rs 1,000 denomination .

Based on their information,the police raided a farm house in Benoor in Kasargod and seized fake currency worth Rs.5 crore which was printed and stuffed in 24 sacks ready to be dispatched .

The accused had packed the blank papers under the few fake currency note bundles,to deceive their customers .

There are many others involved in the racket and a special team has been formed to track down the accused,Dr SD, Sharanappa,DCP, East division, said .

The accused have been booked under various sections of The Specified Bank Notes (Cessation of Liabilities)Act 2017 and investigations are to ascertain the source of the demonetised currency notes and the fake currency which were printed and circulated .

Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant,has appreciated Addl CP East,S Murugan, DCP East,Dr SD Sharanappa,ACP,KS Jagadish,PI Prakash R,ASI, Manjunath Shetty,and crime staff as,Sadashiva Belagali,Mohammed khadeer Ulla,Manju S, Shivananda B,Mahesh Kumar,Pratap,BM Hunavad,Fakeerappa Chikkor and other staff has been appreciated for the commendable and exemplary work done by them in nabbing the notorious gang of five who were indulged in cheating people now many will be saved from such cheating business and for the meticulous investigation a suitable reward will be given to the team he added.
