The CCB officials on Saturday arrested a gang of three involved in over 18 chain snatching cases in and around the city since the year 2016.The police have also recovered 1.9 kgs of gold valuables worth Rs 52 lakh from them.
Sandeep Patil,Joint commissioner of police,Crime,told media persons our DCP crime-1, KP Ravikumar received a credible information about a notorious Chain Snatching gang operating in the city.
A special team headed by ACP,Nagaraj under the leadership of PI,Hazaresh Killedar and his team swung into action as the team received vital clues about the gang and kept on tracking the gang to many cities the team visited many cities .
After getting a reliable inputs about the gang the team rushed to the spot and nabbed two chain-snatchers and a receiver who used to receive the stolen booty from them.
During investigation the accused confessed the crime and based on their statement the team recovered 1.9kgs of gold ornaments as 18 gold chains worth Rs.52 lakhs .
A detailed investigation by the team it has revealed that the accused used to target elderly women since there is less resistance and after committing a series of chain snatching within an hour leave the city to handover the booty to their contact in Hiriyur.
The accused would then go to another city to commit chain snatching there and would return after one month but this time their luck dint run and were nabbed by our special who are involved in chain snatching from the year 2016 he added.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Joint CP Crime,Sandeep Patil,DCP Crime-1,KP Ravikumar ACP,Nagaraj,PI, Hazaresh Killedar,and crime staff as,Nawaz Khan,Mufeez Khan,Raghavendra,Nagaraj,Srinivas, Ravikumar,Parashuram,Sameer,and Prakash has been appreciated for the commendable and exemplary work done by them in nabbing notorious Chain Snatchers and a suitable reward will be given to the team he added.
