Mother and son killed in freak accident hit by train while crossing railway track in Bengaluru

A 52-year-old woman and her son (30) were killed in a freak accident when they came under a moving train while crossing a railway track near Lottegollahalli on Sunday morning.

The deceased,has been identified as,Manjula and her son Harish,hailed from Bidadi and they used to survive by selling handmade jewellery at traffic junctions in the city,said the police.

Senior officer told, immediately Baiyyapanahalli railway police rushed to spot and removed the body and shifted for postmortem.

The Baiyyappanahalli railway police who are probing the case,received the alert from passersby who spotted the bodies around 8 am and suspect that the incident might have taken place at 7 am.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the duo had planned to visit Malai Mahadeshwara temple at MM Hills by foot.

Before they left,Manjula wanted to visit her daughter and son-in-law who live near Sanjaynagar and running panipuri business.

They took a bus and got down near BEL circle before heading to Sanjaynagar. We initially suspected suicide but after questioning the family it was concluded that it was an accident as while crossing railway track they were hit by train and killed in a freak accident and further investigation is on he added.
