Six contract workers sustained injuries in an accidental fire that broke out in the truck vehicle carrying thermoplastic road marking paint at the Kempegowda International Airport premises on Sunday morning.
The injured have been identified as Siraj,Avinash, Gowtham,Prashanth,Nageshwar Rao,and Ajay Kumar.
Senior officer,told media persons,that Siraj and Avinash,who have sustained about 40 percent burn injuries and are out of danger,and are being treated as in-patients at Victoria Hospital,while four others sustained minor injuries and treated as out patients.
Luckily the incident occurred at the construction zone which is away from the passenger movement area.
The incident occurred at around 10 am when the workers in the truck were busy painting a newly laid road near the cargo wing of the airport .
The airport rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) personnel rushed to the spot along with the five fire tenders and contained or dosed the fire within 30 minutes.
We suspect that the mishap is due to overheating of the highly inflammable material and paint used to paint the road.However a technical team is probing the exact cause and further investigation is on he added.
