The South Division Police of Jayanagar police have opened fire on a 26-year-old burglar on Wednesday morning after the burglar attacked a policeman who went to nab him.
The police inspector and crime staff spotted a gang of three burglars who had committed two burglaries and were on their way to commit more burglaries.
The injured has been identified as Ismail alias Mohammed Faizal,a resident of Devarabeesanahalli.
Senior officer,told media persons,that the Sudharshan HV,Police inspector of Jayanagar police station was on morning patrolling along with his colleagues crime staff to prevent crimes as there was rise in burglary in the area.
So at Around 6 am the Jayanagar Police Inspector,Sudharshan found an auto-rickshaw heading towards them in Jayanagar 6th block,the auto-rickshaw suddenly took a turn and was trying to escape.
Suspecting something fishy the police went behind the auto-rickshaw for some distance and managed to detain two persons identified as Bikas and Ajay Sharma,both natives of Assam.The third person managed to escape.
A Police team who was in the area and were searching they got to know that it was Ismail and followed him in a dramatic chase he was spotted near Jayanagar 8th block.Before police reached the spot Ismail assaulted a security guard of the house and jumped into another multi-story residential building to evade arrest.
Around 9.30 am police inspector and his team rushed to the building where Ismail was hiding.Pradeed,head constable tried to nab Ismail,he was attacked with the machete on his hand.
Jayanagar Inspector Sudharshan who witnessed the attack fired a bullet in the air from his service pistol and asking him to surrender,but Ismail tried to escape and tried to attack Inspector and his crime staff again.
So to protect himself and his staff Inspector Sudhardhan then fired another round fire and the bullet hited at his left leg.When he collapsed the team of police nabbed him and rushed him and injured police to nearby private hospital.
During investigation it was revealed that Ismail and two arrested were committing series of burglaries in city,they used to target the locked houses and stole the valuables.There are around 15 cases registered against them.We are yet to interrogate Bikas and Sharma about how they befriended Ismail,and a attempt to murder case has been registered in Jayanagar police station against the prime accused Ismail with other sections and further investigation is on.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Addl CP West Soumendhu Mukherjee DCP South Harish Pandey,PI, Sudharshan HV,and his crime staff Pradeep and other who has successfully nabbed all the trio notorious burglars who has given sleepless night to many residents are now cooling their heels in jail and for the brave act the Inspector and his team will be rewarded he added.
