The East Division police of KG Halli Police have arrested a gang of seven person and busted an inter-state racket of car theft and recovered 48 Hi-End Cars worth of Rs.4 Crore from them.
The police have also unearthed the nexus of RTO officials of Ananthpura who were registering the Vehicles without required NOC from Karnataka for a commission.
The RTO officials in Anantpura have also hand in glove with the accused to register the cars.
The police have brought it to the notice of the Deputy Transport Commissioner of Ananthpura who took a serious note,suspended RTO officials involved in the racket .
The accused has been identified as,J.Riyaz (Bengaluru),Sheik Mukatayar,Y.Vinod,Ramesh Naidu,Narasimha Reddy,T.Prabhakar and Chakli Naresh all resident of Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh.
Senior officer told media persons,that the racket came to light when Noor Ahmed,resident of KG Halli complained to the police that he had been cheated by Riyaz offering to buy his car and escaped.
Based on the complaint a special team was formed by DCP East,Dr SD Sharanappa,under the leadership of ACP,Banaswadi Sub-Division,Ningappa B Sakkri,PI,Santhosh Kumar of KG Halli and his crime team swung into action.
During investigation the team arrested J Riyaz from Frazer Town,and during interrogation he confessed the crime and revealed that he is working as tout as agent and he used to take away the cars from the people who defaulted EMI by promising them to pay the outstanding.
But he used to escape with original documents and used to handover the car to their contact in Anantapur who works as agents in transport offices to register the vehicles without required NOC and sell it to the people.
Using the modus operandi, the accused had cheated many people and made several crores by illegal means and shared the money.
Based on his statement the team has nabbed another six persons from Ananthapur who are involved in the racket.
He explained modus operandi of the gang saying that the gang was to identify a car owner who failed to repay their EMIs on time during lockdown.
Their main target was to be those who could not afford to pay their EMIs in time and pay them the initial amount towards advance payment.The accused used to procure original documents of the vehicle after assuring the original vehicle owners that they would continue to repay ‘their’ installments on time.
After obtaining original papers,the gang used to get this vehicles registered in Andhra Pradesh as a new car at Hindupur Regional Transport Officer’s (RTO) office through Sheikh Muktayar and his associates including Vinod,Ramesh Naidu,T.Prabhakar,Chakli Naresh and others who were working as clerks and agents in the RTO.
After arresting all the accused the KG Halli Police inspector and his crime staff grilled the accused who spilled the beans and based on their statement the team has successfully recovered
48 luxurious cars like Toyota Innovas being stolen by this gang and sold in Andhra Pradesh, Of these 52 cars, we have seized 48 vehicles from this gang and the gang is comprise of 10 members.
And a massive manhunt is on for the other three associates of the gang, accused Inayat,Salim, Suhel and Jabi are still at large a case has been registered in KG Halli Police station and further investigation is on.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated,Addl CP East,S Murugan, DCP East,Dr SD Sharanappa,ACP, Banaswadi Sub-Division,Ningappa B Sakkri,PI,L Santhosh Kumar,PSIs,as,Dhananjay,Rajesh H,and Babu Reddy,with crime staff as, Bhaskar Murthy,Nasir ulla Khan, Mohammed Rafi,Razak,Lakshman Rathod, Prakash Rathod,Santhosh Chouhan, Suresh Baddagi,Shakeel Ahmed, Shashikanth,Thimmesh and umran Khan Suhail has been appreciated for the exemplary work done by them and a cash reward has been announced to the team he added.
