Varthur police opened fire at habitual offender who has attacked two constable in a span of three days in a bid to escape.
The accused Naveen Kumar P, along with his mother and brother attacked constable Manjunath,and escaped when the latter went to secure his arrest on January 6.
Manjunath sustained severe injuries but with the help of locals he managed to nab mother and brother of Naveen.
Taking a serious note on the incident,D Devraj, DCP,whitefield formed a special team to arrest Naveen who was on the run.
A team led by PSI Krishnamurthy located Naveen near an isolated place in Gunjur and surrounded the place.In an order to escape Naveen attacked constable with dagger and tried to escape.
PSI Krishnamurthy warned Naveen by opening fire in air but the accused dint budge and tried to attack again so in self defense PSI opened fire at Naveen on his leg and injured him.
Both the Naveen and the injured constable were rushed to private hospital and were recovering.
Naveen was involved in criminal cases.Few months ago he barged into the house of a private firm employee situated in Parappana Agrahara. The owner of the house identified as Sunita was sleeping when Naveen entered the house and robbed valuables worth rs 50,000.He was on the run since then until constable Manjunath track him down at his house in Varthur on January 6.
A case has been registered against the accused and his family members in the concerned jurisdiction police station and further investigation is on.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant,has appreciated Addl CP East,S Murugan, DCP Whitefield,D Devaraj,ACP,Manoj kumar and his team as,PI, Varthur, PSI,Krishnamurthy, constable Manjunath,and other staff who has played on their life and nabbed the notorious habitual offender a suitable reward will be given to the team he added.
