In these times of great hardships, when the whole country is struggling to fight the novel corona virus pandemic, the Indian Youth Congress has stood shoulder to shoulder with the citizens of India to provide all help needed. To address the issue of medical supplies, PPEs, groceries, food and clean drinking water, Railways fares for migrant workers, food and necessary supplies to people returning home etc., various teams of the IYC are working across the country, day and night to ensure proper supply of these basic necessities. The IYC has also launched nationwide helplines to help the stranded and the impoverished people, in any manner possible including but not limited to groceries, food supplies, medical supplies, railway fares etc. Since Day 1 of the lockdown, we have continued to take help directly to the people, across the nation including any request received through social media platforms. All State Presidents, National and State Office bearers of IYC have been streneously working all these days to cater to the needs and requirements of poor and needy.
Keeping in mind the difficulties being faced by migrant workers and other people taking trains back to their homes, as well as directions from the Congress leadership, the IYC National President Sri. Shrinivas B. V. Ji has been distributing food packets, clean drinking water, hand sanitizers, gloves and face masks to them since yesterday, in addition all other programs being conducted by IYC across the nation.Today also, the IYC National President Sri. Srinivas B.V. Ji continued to distribute food and safety gear to people returning back to their homes at New Delhi Railway Station. In view of the operation of railways, the Youth Congress teams across the nation, have been distributing food packets and safety gear at all railway stations and nearby roads, along with operational bus stands as well.
Along with this, the food bank at IYC headquarters is also feeding approximately 2500 people every day. In addition to the food bank, food distribution work is continuously going on in New Delhi, as well as other parts of the country. Yesterday, following the instructions given by Srinivas B.V. ji, meals were distributed by IYC teams at Minto Road, New Delhi as well as Bangla Sahib Gurudwara. Further, the Delhi Youth Congress has set up a helpdesk in Tughlakabad to help facilitate inter-state rail travel for migrant workers stranded in Delhi.
IYC National President Shri Srinivas B.V. ji said, “Under instructions from the senior Congress leadership, we are doing everything possible to facilitate the return of migrant workers and all other people returning to their homes. We shall continue our endeavors 24×7, across the nation and continue our fight against Corona as well as Government apathy. Jai Hind.”
