As many as 15,000 police personnel will be deployed across the city on the night of December 31 to ensure New Year celebrations are not marred by untoward incidents.
Those celebrating New Year’s Eve on the night of December 31 do not have to worry about transportation as Namma Metro and BMTC buses will run till 2 am.
The city traffic police have decided to stop drunk people from driving right at bars and pubs on New Year eve.The police have planned to conduct the alcometer tests near the alcohol outlets and book those who drive under the influence of alcohol.Going a step forward,the police have also planned to register FIRs against those found driving in an inebriated state,under section 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) of the IPC.Joint Commissioner of Police,(Traffic) BR Ravikanthe Gowda said there will be rigorous checks by the traffic police on New Year eve to avert accidents due to drunk driving.
The following places for New Year eve advisory has also been issued by the police.Parking prohibited from 4 pm to 2 am,MG Road (from Jewel De Paragon Junction upto Trinity Circle),Cubbon Road,Residency Road,Richmond Road, Infantry Road,Brigade Road (upto Old Ashok Nagar PS Jn),Church Street, Museum Road,Rest House Road,Kamaraja Road (from Cauvery Arts & Crafts Jn to Dickenson Jn),St Marks Road, Magrath Road,Commissariat Road,Markham Road, Main Guard Cross Road,Dispensary Road and 100 Feet Road, Indiranagar.Vehicles parked on any of the roads will be immediately towed away after 4 pm and fined.Such vehicles will be released only after 6 am on Wednesday.
Police commissioner Bhaskar Rao said 11 DCPs, 41 ACPs,213 PIs,591 PSIs,7,861 HCs,andPCs,1,500 home guards,94 platoons of KSRP,and CAR personnel from Rapid Action Force will be on guard across Bengaluru.Bengaluru city being a huge metropolis.On the occasion of New Year on 31-12-2019.
The city police has made very elaborate preparations.We will operate through our 108 police stations,which cover our eight jurisdictions of Deputy Commissioner’s.East,West,North,South,Central,Southeast,Northeast and Whitefield.Two IGPs,under whom four divisions each will be supervising them.
The prominent places were New year celebrations are going to take place in each division have already been supervised by its Addl CPs and their Deputy commissioner’s.But as a city we will concentrate more on the CBD areas like MG Road,Brigade road,Koramangala and Indiranagar where there will be heightened police bandobust.
The highlights of this year are,We are going to create lot of observation towers in different parts of the MG road.Each tower will be having personnel with Binoculars,High power torches and walkie-talkie sets.There are going to be over 1500 CCTV cameras,plus Drone Cameras in adequate numbers not only here in parts of the town also wherever the celebrations are taking place.
Hence Bengaluru city traffic police has made very elaborate arrangements there are going to be 175-185 points of checking.Which is starting from today onwards and these places will be changing everyday and on that day our traffic police will be specially on lookout for those who are over speeding as well as engaging in Zig-Zag driving,dangerous driving, especially on highway etc.All flyovers will be closed after 10pm in the night to ensure that there is no reckless driving on the flyovers.These will be closed between 10pm to 6am in the morning.
And the next is drugs on occasion like this we see that chemical drugs like cocaine, amphetamine,and other tablets make their presence.We have issued strict instructions through our DCPs that this is a no tolerance policy which we continue.Already number of cases have been booked in Bengaluru city and since yesterday onwards under the Joint CP,crime,more and more surveillance will be carried out.This time we are going to use canine squad,and drug squads in prominent hotels,Hi-End hotels,Hi-End partying places.So I want to warn the rich and famous if you engage in drugs you are in lot of troubles.So let there be responsible enjoyment having care for others also,not reckless enjoyment which endangering yourself and endangering others also.
And other aspect of this year is engagement of private security.We are engaging number or person from private security organisations.Who will be working and with a close co-operation with the police department so they will be also be a part of security.
So the next is as our police bandobust will not going to ended up till 2am or 3am and we are going to move this will be continued till 8am in the next morning,So you will see our people everywhere and they will be their to ensure safety of woman,men and as well as youngsters.He even said there will be no scope for moral policing..
So within the city we are going to create safety Islands.Safety Islands are places were additional police personnel will be available the place will be luminated and that place if anybody feels very unsafe or want to feel isolated they will go over there there is some place to sit down and you can summon a taxi,Ola,Uber etc.
Our traffic police has held meeting with ola uber also and our DCPs has also sensitized bars and restaurants that drunk and driving is absolutely not going to be tolerated.So we are doing our best to see this people engage in responsible entertainment enjoyment and not harm others and not harm themselves and he finally said we need media support and your cooperation.
