Two Notorious Chain Snatchers arrested by Jayanagar Police Recovered 900 grams Gold Worth Rs.27 Lakhs.
Jayanagar police inspector and his team have arrested two notorious chain snatchers and recovered 900 gram gold worth of Rs.27 lakhs from them.
The accused has been identified as Balakumar and Saravana Kumar both residents of Lingarajpuram.
An elderly women in Bengaluru have become sitting targets for bike borne miscreants who are out to snatch gold chains.Bengaluru police have formed special teams to put a check on this.
One such team of jayanagar police station acted swiftly and arrested another gang.The images captured in the CCTV footage.These chain snatchers were on the prowl in Jayanagar.
Modus Operandi :
The accused main target were lonely elderly woman and they used to struck on
Mainly on Saturday,Sunday,tuesday and Wednesday.They used to ride a white colour Honda Aviator motorcycle, wearing full-faced helmets with full jacket and they used to target women walking on isolated roads.majority of the chain snatching victims in the city were either returning from or going to temples,park when the snatchers targeted them. and struck when the roads are less crowded.Among the victims, a large number of women were in their late 40s or 50s.
Addl CP West,B K Singh told reporters,Naveen shetty and Balakumar both residents of Lingarajpuram have been nabbed.They stole chains to fund their cricket coaching he added.
DCP South,Dr.S.D.Sharanappa,told media persons,based on instructions by our senior officers a special team was led by ACP Jayanagar sub division,Sreenivas.K.H,under the supervision of PI,Uma Mahesh,PSI Nagesh and his crime staff to check the movements of chain snatching accused who are out on bail a special team was swung into action as our team got clear CCTV footage of the accused at the crime scene and with the technical support the cops have managed to nab the accused during the crime based on the clothes they were wearing and the CCTV footage we accessed.Srinivasa,Kemparaju and chandrashekar were the cops on duty who has nabbed the accused.They have strucked in several areas each time they manage to give a cops a slip but on July 8th their luck ran out they were caught by our vigilant constables they were caught red handed by our cops when they were out hunting for their next victim.They were immediately taken into custody and during interrogation they confessed to the crime and we got shocking details as the accused identified as Naveen and Balakumar were college dropouts who had a dreams of playing cricket for the Indian national team.The accused have enquired about the coaching at one of the premier cricket institutes but they do not have the money to fund their dreams.That is when they met a name named Sagay who is a well known rowdy sheeter they were trained in new answers of chain snatching before they went on their own the gang has reportedly stolen more than 25 chains and based on their statement the Jayanagar cops have recovered 900 gram of gold worth Rs.27 Lakhs from them.A detailed investigation also revealed there are several cases against the two accused in JP Nagar,Mico Layout and Subramanyapura police stations we have also detained Sagay for further investigation in the case.A case has been registered in Jayanagar police Station and further investigation is on and finally Bengaluru Police commissioner,T Suneel Kumar,Addl CP West,B K Singh,has appreciated,DCP South,Dr.S.D.Sharanappa,ACP,Jayanagar Sub-division,Srinivas,PI,Uma Mahesh,PSI,Nagesh,and crime staff as,B.kemparaju,R.Chandrashekar, Srinivas,Praveen Kumar.K.S,Sreenivas,Syed Mushtafa,Thimmegowda,Sheshagiri Nayak, Shivakumar and Shivarajaiah has been appreciated for their commendable job done by the team with their arrest we have Solved 22 cases.Recovered 900gms gold worth 27 Lakhs and returned property to the victims.Meanwhile commissioner of police has announced a cash reward of Rs.1 Lakh to the whole team for their good catch the accused are now cooling their heels in jail now he added.
