Mumbai: Another big jolt in Maharashtra politics. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by political tycoon Sharad Pawar has been torn apart. Just like Shiv Sena was split less than a year ago, now NCP is in pieces. Senior leader of the party, Ajit Pawar, son of Pawar’s son Swayana, split the party. He immediately joined the government. He was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister and 8 other ministers in the Eknath Shinde government. This development that took place in Mumbai on Sunday was a shock. Sharad Pawar was in Pune when the incident took place. He warned that action will be taken against those who split the party. The opposition has flagged whether this is the democracy that Modi has praised in America. NCP appointed Jitendra Awadh as Leader of Opposition after Ajit Pawar joined the government. Pawar has decided to hold a party meeting in Mumbai on the 5th of this month to discuss the current situation. Dissatisfied with Sharad Pawar’s leadership for a while, Ajit Pawar launched a rebellion. On Sunday morning, he held a meeting with some party leaders and MLAs at his official residence in Mumbai, Devgiri.
Party executive president Supriya Sule, senior leader Chhagan Bhujbal and others attended the meeting. Supriya left after some time. After that, Ajith resigned from the post of Leader of Opposition in the Assembly. It was immediately approved by Speaker Rahul Narvekar. After meeting with party leaders, Ajith went to Raj Bhavan with them. There Governor Ramesh Bais administered oath to him as Deputy Chief Minister. 8 NCP leaders took oath as ministers. Among them are Chhagan Bhujbal, Dilip Walse Patil, Hasan Mushrif, Dhananjay Munde, Aditi Tatkare, Dharmarao Atram, Anil Patil and Sanjay Bansode. CM Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis, Speaker Narvekar, Deputy Speaker Narahari Jirwal and NCP Executive President Praful Patel attended the programme. Devendra Fadnavis is already the Deputy Chief Minister.
Recently, Ajit Pawar had a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and CM Eknath Shinde. His sudden entry into the government, which has been stagnant since then, has created a commotion in the NCP. The party has a total of 53 MLAs while Ajith has the support of 29 MLAs. On the other hand, Maharashtra BJP president Chandrasekhar Bawankule said that 40 NCP MLAs have expressed their support. Recently, Sharad Pawar appointed his daughter Supriya Sule and Praful Patel as the working presidents of the party. Since then, Ajith remains unhappy. In addition to this, party sources say that the talks held by Chief Minister Shinde’s faction with Ajit Pawar have borne fruit. Sharing the platform with Rahul Gandhi at the recent opposition meeting in Patna, It is said that Ajith is against Sharad Pawar’s unilateral decision to ally with Congress. On the other hand, it is reported that there was a rebellion after he was expected to be given the post of party president but was not given.
As the year turns..
BJP and Shiv Sena, who contested together in the assembly elections in 2019, split due to differences over who should be the chief minister after the results. Fadnavis was sworn in as Chief Minister and Ajit Pawar as Deputy Chief Minister. But that government collapsed within 80 hours as Sharad Pawar did not support it. After that, Uddhav Thackeray formed Maha Vikas Aghadi along with NCP and Congress and took charge as Chief Minister. Ajit Pawar took charge as Deputy Chief Minister then. In June last year, there was once again an uproar in the grand politics. Shiv Sena was split by Eknath Shinde. Took charge as Chief Minister. Again, a year later, Ajit Pawar broke away from the NCP and became the Deputy Chief Minister. After the election, oath-taking took place four times and three times Ajith took charge as Deputy Chief Minister.
So many political dreams..
Ajit Pawar’s carafe address for dramatic developments in Maharashtra politics. He is always in the news with his unexpected decisions. 63-year-old Ajit Pawar is the elder son of Sharad Pawar. Ajith’s father is Anantrao Pawar. Ajith entered politics in 1982. Known as a leader with field strength and an expert in governance, he has many political aspirations. He won from Baramati in 2019 with a majority of 1.65 lakh votes. In the past, he worked as a minister and deputy chief minister for 15 years in the Congress and NCP governments. Won as MP in 1991. As Sharad Pawar entered central politics, Ajith played a vital role in the state. Elected MLA from Baramati six times.

All MLAs follow me: Ajith
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP rebel leader Ajit Pawar said that all the MLAs are with him. He said that he will contest all future elections on the NCP symbol. It is clear that in a democracy, the majority has priority. He said that the country is progressing under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.
When the closest people shocked..
Dilip Walse Patil and Chhagan Bhujbal, who were close to Sharad Pawar, rebelled. Both of them are staunch supporters of Pawar. A firebrand in the Shiv Sena, Bhujbal joined the Congress in 1991. Joined NCP with Pawar in 1999. He has been following him ever since. Telgi was caught in the stamp scam and spent two years in jail. Valse Patil, who started his career as Sharad Pawar’s PA, worked as a speaker and minister. Won seven times as MLA from Ambegaon.
No party support: NCP
Sharad Pawar was in Pune when the meeting was held at Ajit Pawar’s house. He said he had no information about that meeting. On the other hand, NCP spokesperson Mahesh Tapase made it clear that the party does not support Ajith’s faction. In a video statement, Tapase said that party workers, district presidents, taluk leaders, youth and women leaders are with Sharad Pawar.
Why are you angry with Babai?
Sharad Pawar has no sons. The only daughter Supriya Sule got married and settled in Singapore. After that she came to India and won as an MP but was confined to Delhi. Sharad Pawar has said many times that she will not enter state politics. Everyone thought that Ajith was the political successor. He got respect in the party as well. But Supriya Sule’s active involvement in politics has become a problem for Ajith. He was worried that he and his son Parth would not have a proper place in the party. Although it was hoped that he would be given the responsibility of the party president, he did not get that position. The recent appointment of Supriya Sule and Praful Patel as executive presidents has caused him more dissatisfaction. Cases against him in irrigation projects have also become embarrassing.
