Gujarat: An old adage “Healthy mind stays in healthy body” has withstood the test of time and is practiced in totality by armed forces. The Indian Coast Guard was once again seen in action during the Inter Region Swimming Championship 2022-23. A two day annual Inter Region Swimming Championship was organized by Indian Coast Guard Air Station (ICGAS) Daman from 24-25 Aug 22 which saw participation of 70 participants from different regional Headquarters of Indian Coast Guard.
The Championship comprised of five teams from five regions of Indian Coast Guard (East, West, North East, North West and Andaman & Nicobar Islands) and was conducted in two categories and a total of 18 events of various lengths and strokes. The event was aimed towards improving physical fitness and strengthening esprit de corps. Coast Guard Region (West) stood first while second and third positions were bagged by Coast Guard Region (East) and Coast Guard Region (North West) respectively.
DIG SSN Bajpai , Commanding Officer ICGAS Daman felicitated the participants and winners. He congratulated the winning team and appealed everyone to follow healthy life style and encourage children to take up any sports to re-affirm “khelega India toh Badhega India”
