The Amruthahalli Police have registered a case against an unidentified man for allegedly making a fake murder call to the 108 ambulance service and later abusing a staff nurse and ambulance driver over the phone.
The complaint was filed on August 23,2026,by Lakshmi Devi,who works as a staff nurse with the 108 emergency ambulance service.
The case has been registered under Sections 212 and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS),2023.
According to the complaint,Lakshmi Devi was on night duty on August 19,travelling in ambulance at around 10.22 pm,the 108 control room received a call from an unidentified person using mobile number.
The caller allegedly claimed that a murder had taken place at B-Sector,Amruthnagar,Byatarayanapura,Bengaluru.
Acting on the information,Lakshmi Devi and ambulance driver Yogesh Kumar,along with police personnel from Hoysala-173,reached the location at around 11.08 pm.
However,they found no evidence of any murder or such incident at the spot.
The nurse subsequently obtained the caller’s details through the 108 control room and contacted the number to verify the information.
During the conversation,the man allegedly abused Lakshmi Devi and Yogesh Kumar,accusing them of not reaching the location he had provided and claiming that they were sleeping somewhere instead of performing their duties.
Despite being asked to speak properly,the caller allegedly continued using abusive language and deliberately caused them inconvenience while they were on duty.
The complaint further states that police informed them that the same person had allegedly made similar false calls on previous occasions,causing trouble to emergency services.
The nurse has requested police to trace the person using mobile number and take appropriate legal action against him for allegedly providing false information about a murder and abusing emergency service personnel.
