Bengaluru Traffic Police have registered 517 cases against motorists for drunk driving during a special enforcement drive conducted across the city between August 10 and 16.
During the week-long operation,traffic police checked 35,175 vehicles across the limits of 53 traffic police stations.
Cases were registered against 517 motorists found driving under the influence of alcohol,and their driving licences were seized.
In addition,police registered cases against 146 motorists for driving at excessive speed and in a negligent manner.
The enforcement drive resulted in the collection of Rs.14.80 lakh in fines for traffic violations during the week.
Traffic police officials have appealed to motorists to strictly follow traffic rules and not drive after consuming alcohol,warning that drunk driving and reckless driving can lead to serious accidents and loss of life.
