Shivamogga:Two police personnel have been transferred as a disciplinary measure after a video showing them carrying Shivamogga MLA,Channabasappa on their shoulders during a Ganesh immersion procession went viral on social media.
The two personnel,identified as Ganesh and Prakash A.K.of the Shivamogga East Traffic Police Station,were part of the procession held after the Ganesh idol installed at the police station was taken out for immersion.
According to the order issued by Shivamogga Superintendent of Police,B.Nikhil,Ganesh has been transferred to Agumbe Police Station in Thirthahalli, while Prakash A.K. has been transferred to Anavatti Police Station in Sorab taluk.
The East Traffic Police Station had installed a Ganesh idol as part of its annual tradition.
Following the prayers,the idol was taken in a procession from the police station towards Bheemanamadu on the Tunga river for immersion.

MLA Channabasappa had joined the procession near Kote Sri Bheemeswara Temple.
During the procession,the two traffic police personnel, who were in uniform,were seen carrying the MLA on their shoulders and dancing.
The video subsequently went viral,triggering discussion and criticism over police personnel carrying a serving MLA during an official police-station Ganesh procession.
The SP has now ordered the transfer of the two personnel as a disciplinary measure.
