A 38-year-old auto driver allegedly stabbed his wife to death and later ended life following a family dispute at Vibhutipura under the HAL police station limits on Wednesday .
The deceased have been identified as Raghavendra,38 and his wife Shruthi Raghavendra,30.
The couple had been married for 17 years and had two children.
According to the police,the couple were living alone at their Vibhutipura residence,while their two children were staying with their maternal grandparents in Davanagere.
Raghavendra’s parents stayed in the first floor of the building while the couple living in the ground floor.
The incident reportedly occurred after a quarrel broke out between the husband and wife on Tuesday night.
Police suspect a family dispute may have led to the incident. During the altercation, Raghavendra allegedly attacked Shruthi on the head with a beer bottle,resulting in her death.
He subsequently died by hanging using a sari.Probe revealed that the couple used to have frequent fight while Raghavendra was alcoholic and spend his earning on vices and blame Shruthi for addicted to mobile phone .
The HAL police have registered a case and are investigating the exact circumstances and motive behind the double death.
Police are also examining whether the dispute was specifically related to Shruthi watching reels on her mobile phone.
