The Magadi Road police are on the lookout for a gang of four men who allegedly stole a Ganesh idol kept for sale at a roadside stall in Dasarahalli in the early hours of Monday.
The incident occurred around 4 am near Magadi Road, when the suspects allegedly arrived in a Tata Ace goods vehicle,lifted the idol placed outside the temporary stall and fled the spot.
The entire incident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera.The footage reportedly shows the four men arriving in the goods vehicle and carrying away the idol.
The theft came to light after the CCTV footage was reviewed,leaving the stall owners shocked.
Police are now examining the footage to identify the suspects and trace the vehicle used in the theft.
The incident comes just days ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi,when temporary roadside stalls selling idols and festive items are set up across Bengaluru.
Police said further details,including whether the idol has been recovered and further investigation is on.
