The Union Territory’s education sector is witnessing a period of historic achievement as government school students record stellar results in national examinations, bolstered by an intensive coaching framework and the tireless dedication of the teaching community.

Record-Breaking CBSE Performance:

Puducherry’s government schools have achieved a monumental milestone in the recent CBSE Class 10 examinations, securing a 99.79% pass percentage for the 2025-26 academic year.

This represents a significant leap of 18.54% over previous results.

Out of 5,594 students who appeared, 5,582 successfully cleared the boards, with 115 out of 122 government schools achieving a perfect 100% result.

Specialized NEET Coaching for Aspirants

Parallel to board exam success, the Education Department has launched a structured NEET coaching initiative that commenced on April 1.

Currently,571 government school students, including a significant majority of 450 girls, are undergoing rigorous training for the May 3 entrance exam.

The program is being conducted at key hubs, including

Expert resource persons from the SATHEE initiative (Kanpur)and university professors are providing academic guidance, building on last year’s success where 158 students qualified and 36 secured medical seats in local Institutions.

Leadership and Teacher Dedication Amidst Election Duties:

This academic surge is being hailed as a major success for the newly appointed leadership at the Directorate of School Education.

Under the guidance of Director of School Education, Dr.A.S.Sivakumar, IAS,and Joint Director,Mrs.Sivagami, the department has implemented a rigorous”Mission 100%”strategy with their dedicated team that prioritized student outcomes despite a heavy administrative calendar.

The teaching workforce has been the backbone of both the classroom and the democratic process, managing a demanding dual role:

*Civic Responsibility:Thousands of teachers were deployed as presiding and polling officers, managing EVMs and facilitating the April 9 polling process for the

2026 Assembly Elections:

Academic Continuity:Despite long hours at polling stations, educators remained committed to personalized mentorship and conducting diagnostic assessments to ensure no student fell behind.

Strategic Management:Under the direct supervision of Dr.Sivakumar and Mrs.Sivagami, school-level nodal officers worked overtime to coordinate logistics for the NEET coaching centers while simultaneously handling election tasks.

The leadership team has lauded the “unwavering commitment”of the staff, noting that the teachers’ ability to maintain academic excellence while fulfilling vital national duties has been the primary driver behind Puducherry’s standing as an educational leader.

As the May 4 election counting nears and medical entrance exams approach, the synergy between the new directorate leadership and the dedicated teaching faculty continues to set a benchmark for the Union Territory.
