Man booked for assault on neighbour’s pet dog

In a disturbing case of animal cruelty reported from Avverahalli on the outskirts of Bengaluru,a man has been booked for allegedly assaulting his neighbour’s pet dog following a minor altercation.

The accused,identified as Gopi,is said to have attacked the dog on April 9 after it barked at his wife,triggering a dispute between the neighbours.

According to police,Gopi—allegedly under the influence of alcohol—entered the complainant’s premises and repeatedly struck the tied dog with a wooden log,leaving it unconscious near the gate.

The injured animal was immediately rushed to a veterinary facility by its owner and has since recovered, officials said.

The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the residence, providing crucial evidence for the investigation.

Based on a complaint filed on April 11,the Madanayakanahalli Police Station registered a case under Sections 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 329 (causing hurt by dangerous means) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Police said further investigation is underway and appropriate legal action will be taken.

Meanwhile,several animal welfare groups have condemned the incident,calling for stricter enforcement of laws to curb rising cases of cruelty against animals.
