The Special Inquiry Wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) has registered a case against a group of four bookies following a complaint filed by Inspector M. Shanmugham regarding an alleged organised online betting racket operating in the city.
According to the complaint,the acused identifed as Snehil,Mahesh Nimay and Kishore reportedly involved in illegal betting activities through mobile applications and social media platforms,targeting unsuspecting members of the public.

The accused allegedly lure users with advertisements and encourage participation in games of chance such as online betting,rummy,poker,roulette and other gambling activities.
The investigation revealed that the suspects used multiple bank accounts to facilitate transactions, collecting money both through online transfers and cash.
The operations are believed to be part of an organised network aimed at cheating the public under the guise of online gaming platforms.
Police have identified several suspects linked to the operation,including individuals based in Bengaluru,and have also tracked mobile numbers allegedly used in the racket.
Authorities said that these activities amount to organised crime,with the intent to deceive the public and generate illegal profits through betting applications.
Based on the complaint,a case has been registered and further legal action is being initiated against the accused.
The CCB is continuing its investigation to identify additional persons involved and dismantle the network.
