The Sadashivanagar traffic police have registered a case against an ambulance driver for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and violating traffic rules on New BEL Road on Thursday afternoon.
Senior officer told reporters that the incident occurred around 12 noon when the ambulance bearing registration number KA-05-AK-7233 was spotted coming from the MS Ramaiah Hospital side towards the Sadashivanagar police station signal in the wrong direction on a one-way road with its top lights switched on.The vehicle was moving amid heavy traffic,raising suspicion among traffic personnel.

The police intercepted the ambulance and found only the driver inside,with no patient on board.Upon questioning,officers suspected that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.He was taken to the police station,where an alco-meter test confirmed that he had consumed alcohol.
The accused has been identified as Darshan (29).A case has been registered against him under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Section 285,along with Sections 185, 115, and 177 of the Indian Motor Vehicles Act.Further investigation is underway.
