The Bengaluru City Traffic Police have launched a special enforcement drive against vehicles using shrill horns, tampered silencers, and dazzling lights, which cause inconvenience to motorists and violate provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
According to officials, the drive aims to curb the growing menace of noise pollution and unsafe modifications that distract drivers and pose risks to road safety.
Vehicles fitted with illegally modified silencers and high-decibel horns have been identified as major contributors to public nuisance, particularly in residential areas and busy city roads.
Traffic police personnel are also targeting vehicles using high-intensity or improperly aligned lights that can dazzle oncoming drivers, increasing the likelihood of accidents.
During the drive, violators are being penalised under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, and in severe cases, vehicles are being seized for further action. Authorities have also warned workshops and vendors against installing illegal modifications.
The police have urged citizens to cooperate with the drive and follow traffic regulations to ensure safer and more comfortable road conditions for all motorists.
