730 booked for Drunk Driving in Bengaluru during a week-long special drive by BTP

The Bengaluru Traffic Police booked 730 motorists for drunk driving during a week-long special enforcement drive conducted across the city to curb violations and improve road safety.

According to a press note issued on Monday,the special drive was carried out from March 9 to March 15,2026, covering all 53 traffic police stations in the city.

During the operation,officers checked 50,760 vehicles to identify drivers and riders operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol.

Police registered 730 cases of drunk driving during the drive.

In a parallel enforcement campaign against speeding, the traffic police also registered 271 cases of over-speeding and collected Rs.2.75 lakh in fines from violators.

Officials said the drive was conducted to curb the menace of drunken driving and over-speeding and to enhance road safety in the city.

The department added that similar special enforcement drives will continue in the coming weeks to deter traffic violations.
