A former personal assistant (PA) to a legislator allegedly died by suicide at a lodge near Majestic,Bengaluru, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Shivakumar,a native of Davanagere.The incident reportedly took place on February 16 at a lodge in the Majestic area.
Senior officer told reporters that Shivakumar had earlier worked as a personal assistant to Basavaraj Shivaganga,Congress MLA from Channagiri constituency.
However,he was removed from the post about six months ago following allegations of irregularities during his tenure in the MLA’s office.
It was found Shivakumar was reportedly under severe mental stress after losing the position.Before taking the extreme step,he allegedly made a video call to his wife, during which he reportedly told her that he was ending his life.
Despite his wife’s attempts to console him,Shivakumar later died by suicide in the lodge room,he added.
Officials from Upparpet Police Station have registered a case and are conducting further investigation.
