Software professional allegedly died by suicide following a domestic quarrel with her mother-in-law at Abbigere

A 35-year-old software professional allegedly died by suicide following a domestic quarrel with her mother-in-law at Abbigere in north Bengaluru,police said on Tuesday.

The deceased,identified as Sushma (35),was working with a private IT company and had been married to Puneeth Kumar for five years.The couple has a four-year-old son.

According to police,frequent arguments reportedly took place between Sushma and her mother-in-law, Kalpana, over household matters.

Though living under the same roof,the two allegedly cooked separately.Tension is said to have escalated recently after Kalpana allegedly objected to Sushma spending an extended time cooking, triggering another quarrel.

Police said that on Monday around 10.30 am, Sushma allegedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan in her upstairs room.

Her husband and mother-in-law were present in the house at the time.She was found unresponsive and later declared dead.

Following a complaint from Sushma’s parents accusing her husband and in-laws of dowry harassment,police have taken Puneeth Kumar into custody for questioning.

A case has been registered at Soladevanahalli Police Station.Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to her death, including the allegations of harassment.
