A 19-year-old youth on his way to deliver food to his ailing father was killed after a speeding canter allegedly driven on the wrong side rammed into his two-wheeler near Dhananayakanahalli Main Road under the limits of the Jnanabharathi Traffic Police Station on Saturday night.
The deceased has been identified as Muniyappa,a resident of Dhananayakanahalli.He was working at a bike showroom in Kengeri.
Senior officer told reporters that the accident occurred around 9.45 pm when Muniyappa was heading to a hospital to deliver food to his father,who is currently undergoing treatment.
A canter truck,allegedly driven at high speed in the wrong direction on a one-way road,collided head-on with his two-wheeler.
Muniyappa sustained severe head injuries in the impact. Passersby rushed him to a nearby hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries despite efforts by doctors to save him.
The canter driver allegedly fled the scene after abandoning the vehicle.The Jnanabharathi Traffic Police have registered a case and are examining the vehicle details.A search has been launched to trace and apprehend the accused driver.
