The Central Crime Branch (CCB)of the Bengaluru police on Thursday arrested a Woman Rowdy Sheeter under the stringent Karnataka Control of Organised Crimes Act, 2000 (KCOCA) in connection with the kidnapping and extortion of a realtor last year.
The arrested accused has been identified as Yashaswini alias Yashaswini Gowda (47),a rowdy sheeter of Basavanagudi Police Station.
According to the CCB,in August 2025, a gang kidnapped Manoj Kumar (H.C.V.),a real estate businessman,near Modi Hospital Road,under the limits of Mahalakshmi Layout Police Station.A case was registered under Crime No. 62/2025,following which the CCB took over the probe.
After sustained investigation,officers of the Organised Crime Wing,West Division,arrested Yashaswini on February 5, 2026.
Senior officer told reporters that she is a habitual offender,with eight to ten criminal cases registered against her across various police stations in Bengaluru city.
During probe it was revealed that Manoj was acquainted with Rajesh alias Pappi and others,who had earlier taken Rs.1.20 lakh from him as a hand loan,promising to return it within a month.When Manoj demanded repayment,the accused allegedly began threatening him.
On August 26,2025,at around 6.30 pm,the accused allegedly called Manoj to Modi Hospital Road,claiming they would return the money.When he arrived,Manoj was allegedly forced into a car and kidnapped by Ramesh and four of his associates.
The victim was allegedly driven around the city, assaulted,verbally abused and threatened with death.
Further said the accused also showed him a machete and warned him to arrange money immediately.
Under threat,Manoj was allegedly forced to transfer Rs.76,000 from his two bank accounts and Rs.2.20 lakh to the account of one of the accused.
The gang allegedly demanded an additional Rs.10 lakh, threatening to kill him if the amount was not paid.
On August 27, 2025,at around 3.30 pm,the accused dropped Manoj near the Jnanabharathi campus,warning him to arrange the remaining money through bank transfer.
During the course of investigation,police said they established that Yashaswini had organised the gang and played a key role in the kidnapping and extortion, following which she was booked under KCOCA Act he added.
