In a swift action,the Hoysala patrolling team foiled a kidnapping attempt following a timely alert to Namma-112 within the limits of Hebbagodi Police Station on Friday night.
The incident occurred at around 10:43:30 pm,a caller informed Namma-112 that unknown persons had abducted his elder brother in an autorickshaw in the Bommasandra Industrial area.
Acting swiftly,the Namma-112 staff alerted Hoysala-08 patrol personnel.ASI Lingappa and PC Bandenawaz,who were on duty,rushed to the spot and reached within 19 minutes.
With the assistance of the public,the police intercepted the suspicious autorickshaw,rescued the kidnapped person safely,seized weapons used in the crime,and apprehended the accused.The accused were later handed over to Hebbagodi Police Station for further investigation.
Police identified the victim as Basavaraj (27),a goods vehicle driver.
According to the police,Basavaraj had earlier sold his goods vehicle and was in possession of a substantial amount of cash.
Upon learning this,his acquaintance Khaja Pasha,along with his associates John Peter and Bharat,allegedly conspired to abduct him and extort money.
On January 30,at around 7.00 pm,Khaja Pasha reportedly lured Basavaraj on the pretext of a discussion and, along with the other accused, abducted him in an autorickshaw.
The victim was taken to a secluded location where the accused allegedly assaulted him with sticks,clubs,and other weapons,forcibly robbed ₹1,500, and threatened him,demanding an additional ₹50,000.
Before the accused could escape,police intervention led to the victim’s rescue and the arrest of the suspects. Further investigation is underway.
