Bengaluru KP Agrahara Police Station Inspector caught red handed accepting bribe of Rs.4 Lakhs by Lokayukta police

The Lokayukta police on Wednesday trapped a police inspector attached to the K.P.Agrahara police station while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.4 lakh in connection with a chit fund-related case.

The accused inspector,Govindaraju,allegedly demanded money from man,threatening to implicate him in a chit fund related cheating case if the bribe was not paid.

Acting on a complaint,the Lokayukta police laid a trap and caught the officer red-handed while accepting the bribe amount near the CAR Ground,Sirsi Circle.

Senior lokayukta official said,Govindaraju had demanded Rs 5 lakh in cash from Akbar and received Rs 1-lakh advance on Jan 24.

Govindaraju called Akbar later and directed him to pay the balance at CAR grounds Thursday. “Not willing to pay the money, Akbar filed a complaint with us,” Lokayukta police said.

The accused inspector has been booked under Prevention of Corruption Act and taken into custody for further investigation.Further investigation is underway to ascertain whether others were involved.
