Alert security staff caught a woman for attempting to smuggle mobile phone concealed in her inner garments on Friday.
The incident occurred around 12:10 pm at General Visitors Section located on the left side of the prison premises.
Personnel of the Karnataka State Industrial Security Force (KSISF) had been deployed for visitor screening and prison security.
The accused,identified as Lakshmi Narasimha (38),had obtained a visitor pass to meet undertrial prisoner Bharath .
During routine physical frisking conducted by KSISF staff,a prohibited mobile phone was detected concealed on her body.
Upon further examination,officials recovered a blue-coloured Ace Company keypad mobile phone along with one Airtel SIM card which was handed over to the police for further investigation.
A case has been registered,and further investigation is underway against the accused and the under trial prisoner Bharath in connection with the incident, authorities added.
Though the officials said this is one of the way to smuggle mobile phones inside the prison,the other MOs are being tapped .
However despite multi layered security checks,use of mobile phones continue unabated,a senior officer,said .
