CM Siddaramaiah directs strict security measures in Bengaluru ahead of New Year

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed police and other departments to enforce strict security measures to ensure that no untoward incidents occur during New Year celebrations in Bengaluru.

Chairing a high-level meeting with senior police and departmental officials at the Home Office in Krishna
,the Chief Minister reviewed the precautionary arrangements being put in place across the city.

Emphasising women’s safety,Siddaramaiah instructed officials to take all necessary preventive steps and ensure that celebrations pass off without any incidents involving harassment or violence against women.

To facilitate safe travel after celebrations,he directed the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) to operate a large number of buses after midnight so that people can return home conveniently.

The Chief Minister also ordered special crowd-management measures at key locations including MG Road,Brigade Road,Church Street,Koramangala and Indiranagar,and stressed the effective use of modern technology to prevent stampedes or other mishaps.

As part of the security plan,20,000 police personnel will be deployed across Bengaluru,including 1,200 policemen drawn from other districts.

He instructed that women police personnel be deployed in larger numbers and that “Chennamma Teams”be actively utilised.

Officials informed the meeting that the city has been equipped with four control rooms,78 watch towers,164 women help desks and 55 ambulances to manage emergencies.Over the last three days alone,police have registered 3,500 drink-and-drive cases.

In a bid to prevent accidents,two-wheeler movement will be prohibited on 50 flyovers in the city on New Year’s Eve night.

The Chief Minister warned officials to maintain constant surveillance on miscreants,strictly prevent wheeling and take zero-tolerance action against drug-related activities, stating that such offences would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

The meeting was attended by Home Minister,Dr G Parameshwara,Political Secretary to the Chief Minister Naseer Ahmed,Chief Secretary,Dr Shalini Rajneesh,Director General and Inspector General of Police,Dr.M A Saleem,Bengaluru City Police Commissioner,Seemanth Kumar Singh,BBMP Chief Commissioner,Maheshwar Rao,and other senior police officials.

Traffic Arrangements in MG road,Koramangala and Indira Nagar on New year eve :

In view of the New Year celebration,a large number of people, motorists and pedestrians will gather on M.G. Road,Brigade Road,Residency Road,St.Marks Road,and Church Street and other places of Bengaluru City.

It is necessary to restrict the movement of the vehicles on M.G.Road,Brigade Road,St.Marks Road,Resthouse Road,and Residency road on Wednesday night till Thursday morning .

According to the official release,all types of vehicles are prohibited on all the over bridges of the city (except the flyover leading to the International Airport) to prevent accidents during this period.

The movement of two-wheelers is also prohibited on the flyover road of the International Airport from 10:00 PM on 31.12.2025 to 6:00 AM on 01.01.2026.

A special appeal to the public who celebrate the New Year with great joy,especially by consuming alcohol.If you are in a group,make sure that one of the drivers/riders is not drunk,so that his friends can reach their homes safely,ensuring the safety of himself and other drivers and pedestrians,and making the New Year an accident-free and people-friendly one.

The operation against drunk drivers will be carried out throughout the night,and all measures will be taken to ensure that no untoward incident occurs by setting up roadblocks at various places in the city.

Strict action will be taken against motorcyclists who drive at high speed and recklessly and who participate in wheeling/drag races and cause inconvenience to other public, the release,said .

If such incidents are found, information is requested to be given to the police helpline number:112.  Various commercial centers,MG.Road,Brigade Road,the public coming towards them are requested to use public transport systems-Namma Metro,BMTC,KSRTC, Autorickshaws or cabs instead of using their own vehicles.

To prevent the movement of heavy goods vehicles within the CBD area,diversions will be made at Old Udaya TV, Junction,Khodays,Townhall Junction,Chalukya Junction, Domlur,Mekhri Circle.

Enforcement Arrangements :

A total of 166 points are identified to conduct Drunk and Drive special drive across the city.

 A total of 92 locations are identified and closely monitored to prevent wheeling,stunt riding,and rash driving.

 50 flyovers are closed during the night hours to regulate traffic flow and prevent over speeding.

 A total of 10 drones,249 cobra vehicles and 400 traffic wardens are being used to ensure a safe and orderly New Year celebration.
