The 5 acres of land earmarked for BSWML encroached near Kogilu Bande has been cleared and taken possession of the property,said Chief Executive Officer of Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) Kareegowda.
In Survey No.99 of Kogilu Village,Yelahanka Hobli, Yelahanka Taluk,Bengaluru Urban District, out of a total land extent of 14 acres and 36 guntas,BSWML had planned to implement facilities such as a bio-methanation plant,animal rendering unit,animal incineration facility,tender coconut waste processing unit,and sanitary waste processing facility.
However,approximately 5 acres of the land earmarked for BSWML had been illegally and unauthorisedly encroached upon, with more than 150 temporary sheds and houses constructed on the site.
Today,a team led by senior officials completely cleared all encroachments and reclaimed the land, restoring it to the possession of the organisation.
The encroachment removal operation was carried out with police protection,involving coordinated efforts of BSWML,the Fire and Emergency Services,North City Corporation,the Revenue Department,BMTF,70 Marshals, and around 200 personnel.
As part of the operation,9 tractors and 9 JCB machines were deployed,and over 150 unauthorised sheds and houses were demolished.
The government guidance value of the reclaimed 5 acres of land is estimated at Rs.15 crore,while the current market value is approximately Rs.80 crore.
Through this operation,government property worth several crores of rupees has been safeguarded,and the land will be utilised for the proposed solid waste management projects in the coming days.
During the operation,BSWML Chief Operations Officer, Ramamani;Dr.Raghavendra Prasad,Chief General Manager;Deputy General Managers;Assistant General Managers;and other officials were present.
