Missing girl dies in road accident in Bengaluru,three arrested by Bannerghatta police

A 16-year-old girl who went missing while on the way home from school in Bannerghatta later killed in a road accident in on Hosakote road Friday.

Based on the complaint filed by the father of the victim, the Bannerghatta police to arrested four youths, including a minor,on Monday charging them various sections of Pocso act and also under death due to Negligence and rash and negligent riding .

The deceased,a Class 9 student at a government school in Bannerghatta,had reportedly went with her male friend whom she met on Social media few days ago .

The accused, aged between 18 and 19,were employed in local private jobs.

Senior officer told reporters,on October 24,the girl who went to school never returned and later went along with the accused on two motorcycles.

When she failed to return,her parents filed a missing complaint at the Bannerghatta police station.Later that day,police were alerted about an accident near Hosapete,in which the girl succumbed .

Investigations revealed that one of the accused with whom the victim was riding pillion lost control of his bike and hit a road median,causing the girl to fall.

She was subsequently run over by another vehicle coming from behind and died on the spot.

Acting on the parents’ complaint,police arrested all four youths on Monday.

Initial probe revealed no evidence of sexual assault . However,since the victim was a minor,a POCSO case has been registered,and further action will be initiated based on the post-mortem and medical examination reports, police said.
